September 16. It was my second time visit, after the one in this spring, to perform reading at Gaden Court, Santa Barbara. Audience were all healthy, strong and bright regardless of their age. We did not select the tanka pieces which have shrewd theme, for the consideration of the audience, we were very happy to see they enjoyed our performance. |

At the moonviewing event at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in the suburbs of Pasadena, California, I performed reading of moon-related poems selected from Manyoshu as well as some from my works as contemporary tanka. |

I was more than happy to receive appreciation towards Japanese 5-7 syllables sound from non-Japanese speakers, and it was a precious moment for me to deepen my respect for our culture and literature. The event organizer, Kathabela Wilson; TSA - Tanka Society of America Secretary. |

I was very glad to perform reading in front of wonderful audience including those who are from Madagascar and Mauritius. At the same time, I felt strong sense of responsibility as a performer to deliver the messages. Mr. Jean P G Aznar, Ms. Brigitte Pellat, Mr. Metwally Gamal, and Ms. Vera Levy helped me with French translation. Ms. Vera Levy, my friend in Paris, took a part of reading in French. |
