Contemprary Tanka Poet Mariko Kitakubo.

On June 21, PDT 2024, during a summer solstice evening in Santa Monica, I took part in the poetry event at the Rapp Saloon.

First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Ms. Elena Scota, the organizer, for inviting me to be one of the featured poets. I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity.

In the first half of my performance, I presented a reading of my Japanese-English Tanka poem sequences.

In the second half, I read some pieces from my Tan-Ku Collection DISTANCE.

I wholeheartedly thank everyone who appreciated my performance and for their continuous applause. Thank you very much. I hope to have the chance to see you again in the future.
