Oct. 27, I attended the Moon Viewing Party hosted by Yuki-Teikei Haiku Meeting in San Jose on Oct. 27. I performed reading of my recent work and some pieces from "Man-yo-shu" with the theme of autumn and moon. Although it was my first experience of bilingual reading of "Man-yo-shu", we received very favorable reaction from the audience and I was very much encouraged! I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone at the party. |

Sep. 21, It was my very first tanka reading performance in Japanese & French. My tanka was translated into French by Ms. Yasuko Kudaka and Mr. Metwally "Tsukasa" Gamal, both of who worked on French translation of "Man-yo-shu", The Anthology of Myriad Leaves. The reading in French was performed by Mr. Antonio Francica, the Director of Centre Cultuel Italien. Although only a short notice was made via newsletter, I was very happy to have been able to do our reading performance in front of so many audience. I believe this opportunity came ture because my passion toward internationalization of tanka and the world peace was accepted by many people who helped us for this event. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude toward them. |

Aug. 13, I appeared on “Mussashino On-line” a radio program of Musashino FM. In addition to my tanka-reading performance, Mr. Hideyuki Niki, a baritone singer, sang two pieces of my tanka with his amazing voice to heartfelt piano melody played by Ms. Yumi Nakamura. It was an ideal collaboration that I have been dreaming of because I felt that these two wonderful musicians truly understand the world of my tanka and represented in a way of music. I am excited about their concert to be held on Aug. 24, at “Ohmi Gakudo” hall in Tokyo Opera City. Mr. Niki will sing three more pieces of my tanka (in total 5 pieces!!). |
