August 26, 4:45 p.m., U.S. time (Aug. 27 8:45 a.m., Japan time), I participated in Wednesday Poetry Zoom Meeting presided at by Ms. Kathabela Wilson.
20200826_02.jpg
In this meeting, I met a Haiku poet who recently started creating Tanka for the first time. I performed reading of my latest Tanka sequence, wishing to introduce the beauty of Tanka to her. I was glad that she enjoyed my performance.

Her Tanka was so good that it was hard to believe she started Tanka recently. I once again realized that it is not really the years one has spent for writing poems, but the depth of emotion one has been cultivating as well as one's sense that determins the quality of poems.

I was also impressed by Mr. Rick Wilson's flute and Mr. Robert Stewart's paintings.

Last time I attended this event as one of the featured performers, and this time, as an open mic reading performer. Attendants' works, especially the ones presented by the two featured poets, were so impressive and inspired me a lot.

I performed reading while playing percussion some pieces from the Tanka sequence, "The Traveler", which was created upon the request by Kadokawa Shoten for the 2018 November isssue of its monthly magazine, "Tanka".
I express sincere gratitude toward Dearest Maya and all the attendants to the event!

The opportunity to share our work with the fellow members in face to face gave me a brightness under the still-on-going Corona related chaos.

Today, I brought my PC to my house terrace because it was a nice, sunny day, not too hot, in the rainy season, however, it was not appropriate to take photos of screen. Therefore, I selected some pictures for this report from the ones offered to me by Ms. K. Wilson.

I would like to express my gratitude toward all the participants for the precious time.
